Since the 1920’s Gloucestershire Animal Welfare Association and Cheltenham Animal Shelter have been rescuing and re-homing domestic pets throughout Gloucestershire.
The charity is currently caring for 44 dogs, 23 cats, 8 rabbits and 7 guinea pigs. Of the 44 dogs currently in their care, 16 are Staffordshire Bull Terriers (SBT). It is not unusual for SBT’s to make up over 50% of the dog numbers.
The charity recognises that unwanted Staffordshire Bull Terriers is a nationwide problem and so have decided to tackle to problem head on – prevention is better than cure! Not only will the charity continue to rescue and re-home the misunderstood breed but they will also help lower the numbers of unwanted pups being born to try and break the cycle.
Gloucestershire Animal Welfare Association and Cheltenham Animal Shelter will be offering a free neutering service to Staffordshire Bull Terriers for a trial period. The offer is available all SBT’s, male and female who are under the age of 1 year and who’s owners reside in the county of Gloucestershire.
For more information or to book a pre-op assessment then please call 01242 523521.
